One job, done quietly. Tap2Click lives in your menu bar and stays out of the way.

🤫

Silent clicks

The Magic Mouse click is loud. A tap is not. Work late without waking anyone.

👆

Tap to click

A quick, light touch on the surface becomes a left click. Scrolling and swiping work exactly as before.

✌️

Two-finger tap = right-click

Tap with two fingers to open the context menu, just like on a trackpad.

⚡️

Double-tap = double-click

Two taps in a row open files and select words. Can be turned off in the menu.

🎚️

Three tap speeds

Fast, Normal or Relaxed. Pick what feels natural for your hand.

🪶

Tiny and native

Under half a megabyte. Written in Objective-C, no frameworks, no background CPU. Launches at login.

Lives in the menu bar

Everything is one click away: turn it on or off, choose the tap speed, toggle double-tap and right-click, set launch at login.

  • Shows whether your Magic Mouse is connected
  • Reconnects by itself after sleep
  • Settings are remembered

How it works

Three steps. Thirty seconds.

Download and open

Open the DMG and drag Tap2Click to Applications. Launch it. The icon appears in your menu bar.

Allow Accessibility

macOS asks once. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and switch Tap2Click on. This is required to send clicks on your behalf.

Tap

Rest your hand on the mouse as usual. A quick touch of the surface is a click. That's it.

Questions

The short version.

Does it work with any mouse?

It is made for the Apple Magic Mouse (any generation). The touch surface is what makes tapping possible. Other mice have no touch surface, so there is nothing to tap.

Will I get accidental clicks when I grab the mouse?

Rarely. A tap must be short and still: a resting or sliding finger is ignored, and so is any touch during a physical click. If you do get stray clicks, choose a faster tap speed in the menu.

Why does it need Accessibility permission?

That is the only way a macOS app is allowed to send a click. Tap2Click never reads your screen, keystrokes or clipboard. The source code is open, you can check.

macOS says the app can't be opened

Tap2Click is not in the App Store (Apple does not allow the touch API there). If macOS blocks the first launch, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.

Does it drain the battery or slow the Mac?

No. It listens to touch events the mouse already sends and does nothing else. CPU use is zero when idle.

Is it really free?

Yes. No trial, no account, no analytics. It is a free app from the Tourist.com team, made for our own homes where clicks at night were a problem, and shared in case yours is the same.

Quiet nights start here.

Free for macOS 13 and later.
